PM - slightly more than 8 miles easy in the early evening at the end of a rain shower.  Tight and sore for the first 4 miles or so, but then loosened up and felt more relaxed at the end.  Skipped the morning run in favor of more sleep.

Extra sleep carries the same benefits as a workout, only the sleep's easier.

What sessions have you got planned this week?

Was planning to do 4 x mile and a long run with fast finish later in the week. However, I think I may do a few more aerobic sessions instead before trying anymore intense session. I think I need to get myself more into balance. Feeling quite fatigued, noticing a higher RHR, and more than anything else a general mental negativity and malaise over the last few weeks has me concerned that I am not responding well to the stresses of the anaerobic work and I may find myself regressing in performance or worse yet, injured if I don't address these matters. (sorry, that was probably more than you bargained for in your question.) :)

I was half expecting that answer. I'd suggest you drop the 4x1 mile and keep the long run with the fast finish. Then next week start the long rep stuff. They will not take as much out of you - they are like a hardish long run with 'breaks'. I know exactly what you're saying about the fatigue - mental and physical.

Recharge and get things in balance and then go again.
