PM - tempo workout on the treadmill.  2 mile warm up - then using the auto HR target feature - I went for 24 mins at 80% of my HRR - which worked out to be marathon pace more or less.  Some times it was 6:40 and sometimes 6:58 - but always in that range from start to finish.  Quite pleased with how I felt. Solid and controlled.  Using that feature on the treadmill keeps the guesswork out of knowing the right pace for the tempo effect.

Page 106 in John L. Parker's new novel has Quenton Cassidy out leaning Dunedin's Dell Ramers to win an 880.

Love it!

No way! That's so cool! How many people would even appreciate that. (not counting you and me).

You need to pick up the book. Easy one day read if you have the time. It takes Cassidy from 1st grade into college. Tons of great Old Florida references. Hard to put down.

FYI, Ramers has a flikr photo sharing site with lots of great pictures - awesome one of the 1967 Dunedin XC team. One of Ramers winning the mile in a Dunedin-Clearwater dual meet on Dunedin's track that appears to be what we would today call a "mid run".

You should check out his Facebook page too. Lives in Philadelphia now. Must be about 64? Nice picture of the hippy Del Ramers. One L, not two as I wrote earlier.

Just picked it up on kindle - not available until tomorrow. You must have gotten yours early! Funny hippie profile pic for Del!

It was at my Barnes and Noble two days ago.
