PM - lunchtime run - nice progression run of a little over 8 miles with the last 3 miles below MP - aided by absolutely spectacular weather - temps in the low 60's with very low humidity and no wind.  This morning however was too cold for me to head out, so I will need to try to squeeze in a few extra miles this evening.

Read yesterday where Lance Armstrong in completing his first 70.3 Ironman Tri yesterday in Panama finished 2nd after posting a 1:17 half.  He was rumored to not be very gracious to the winner who passed him in the last mile or so, on his way to finish a 1:12 leg.  Guess he was expecting to win.

Lance Armstrong not gracious?

I'm curious about that 1:17 half. He must be taking triathlon a lot more serious than he did running a few years ago. Wasn't he like a 2:45 marathoner? 1:17 seems fast after the swim and bike leg.

I was impressed with that split as well. Evidently he is doing a series of these Ironman events as a part of some business partnership with the entity that puts on these official Ironman races as a vehicle for his foundation - he allegedly is taking the races very seriously - having begun his athletic career as a triathlete before switching to cycling. Ironman thinks his celebrity will be great marketing for the sport which is still only followed primarily by participants. So just a cameo type effort by him is not what they had in mind. Of course now many are wondering if he was tested after the race for performance enhancing substances!
