AM - 4.0 miles very easy this morning.  Awoke even more concerned (perhaps more psychological than any actual physical evidence) with the possibility of the beginning signs of an injury to the left foot.  There is some achiness the top of the 3rd and 4th metatarsal and underneath the 5th.  I iced it last night after my evening run and it felt fine.  Ran very gently this morning and really no problems or aggravation to anything - but having had a couple of stress fractures in that foot previously, I am very wary of any little ache or pain there.  Plan to run gently and easily for a while and will cut back if things worsen or do not improve.  Looking at the calendar - I would just like to maintain my aerobic fitness for a few more weeks and hopefully find myself solidly on the starting line on November 4 -

PM - 8 miles on the treadmill at moderate aerobic pace.  No real issues with the foot - though I noticed between miles 1 and 2 some discomfort, but that went away when I changed the incline from 1% down to 0.

Sorry about the pains, sounds like you are taking a good approach. It could just be some tenderness due to the miles and hopefully not a stress fracture.

Hope its nothing major

Bret, for a few weeks there, I had a similar problem and that's why I was complaining about the Nimbus 14's. I went back to my old 13's and it cleared up in a couple of days. I've just ordered two pairs of Nimbuster 13's from the UK. Give your old 13's a try and see if it makes a difference.

Mine felt like a stress fracture too. Only it wasn't too bad when I ran. It hurt if I stretched my foot or moved in a certain direction. Sometimes I'd wince when my weight was on it.

I think it was subluxation around the cuboid joint - the pain referred along the outside of my foot and on palpation it hurt like a stress fracture. Thankfully, it's all cleared up now. Give the 13's a go and see what happens...

Thanks guys - love this forum. Bam - I will get the 13s out and have a go with them. I think you have precisely described what I am experiencing. Definitely referred pain/discomfort on the outside. Hope I get the same results as you did.

Okay, so I said I wasn't going to diagnose (and I won't), but I think this is what Bam is talking about and this is the area I am having looked at tomorrow.

Yours sounds like something different.

I never knew the foot was such a complex animal. Good luck.

JasonD - I thought about that afterwards. I think your reference to the heal is what threw me off. Let us know what your diagnosis ultimately turns out to be. Hope it is nothing too serious.
