AM - in LA on business yesterday with flight later this evening to Australia - I signed up for a 5k to occupy my time for the day.  Very very small event in Long Beach.   There were competing races/events going on.  In fact in the same parking lot there was another 5k race, and a triathlon.  In the general area there were several other races to chose from.  My race had events from 5k through the marathon.  I would estimate less than 25 people lined up for the race.  It was quickly apparent that I was going to be running by myself - so it was more of a time trial than a race - which I think was measured a little short too.  I think I won by over 2 mins.  Nice day though and it was fun to get out and do a race out of town on the spur of the moment.
